Question: How can I get my camera to take extremely quick pictures in a row!?
I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT!.
I take a lot of BMX and skateboarding shots!.
I was just wondering how I would go about taking fast multi-shot pictures!.

The setting on my camera is quick, but not quick enough!.
Would I need to upgrade my entire camera body!?
Or something else!?

If you're on continuous shooting mode, your camera can do 3 frames per second!. That's the most you will get from XT!. If you want more, you need a much more expensive 40D or 50D body, which can do a little over 6 frames per second!.

That said - the rule of a thumb that most sports photographers adhere to is not to try to get the action on continuous drive!. It usually turns out that the shot you are looking for will be between the shots 3fps or 6fps!.

A good sports photographer will anticipate where the action will be, then will focus and prepare to shoot at that point, and will trip the shutter at just the right moment!. Remember - if you shoot at 1/300 of a second, even at 6 frames per second, you'll be getting about 1/50 of a second worth of action (6/300 = 1/50)!. That means 49/50 of each second will not be seen by your camera!. In other words you have about 2% chance of capturing just the RIGHT moment!. Well, it's probably not as bad, because this math is all theoretical, and it's a bit different on practice, and yet will give you a good idea of why not to shoot continuously!.

I'll note also I think you can do about 14 shots continuous with that camera, I have a slightly older model so yours may do a little better then that!. About 3fps!. I'm not sure if the speed of your flashcard would matter that much at those rates!. Good pictures though!Www@QuestionHome@Com

There should be a "Continuos shot" setting!. I have one on mine and I use it alot cause im a photographer also!. When you get it ont that setting just hold the capture button down and it should take them

Don't worry about your hardware!.

Concentrate on capturing the decisive moment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Make the resolution setting lower!.!.!.you'll have to sacrifice quality for quicker speed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
