What you're talking about is a DSLR (digital single-lens-reflex)!. Probably the first thing you need is an introductory photography class so you *will* know what you're talking about!. Here in the US you can often find short classes offered through community colleges or community centers!.

You don't want to buy a professional camera, those are too expensive!. Your budget will get you a good amateur DSLR and a few lenses!. The Canon 450D (called the Rebel XSi in the US) or 50D, and the Nikon D40 or D60 are some good models!. With either make, you will have dozens of lens choices!. Some possibilities are, an 18-200mm zoom, for an all-purpose lens, a wide-angle zoom (Canon 10-22mm or Nikon 12-24mm) for landscapes, and a 50mm f/1!.4 or 85mm f/1!.8 for portraits with out-of-focus backgrounds!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with comment above, its people that make good photos not cameras!. That said, you can do much of what you want on a good photo program like Photoshop or Corel PSP!. Spend half the money on a 'good' camera and the rest on a good photo program and you will be much happier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Honestly, if you were ready for a 3,000 dollar camera, you seriously wouldn't be asking this sort of question!. Start low, and climb!. A one thousand dollar camera is okay to start with, but jumping straight to PRO isn't a good idea!. also, how good a Digital SLR camera is at macros, or landscaped ( for example ), depends on the lens you mount on it!.

This is where the interchangeable lenses come into play!. You can change the lenses on the camera to get different effects!. There are all sorts of lenses, for all sorts of purposes!. There's wide angle lenses, telephoto lenses, Fast lenses, and that's just a few!. Firstly, you need to gain knowledge of the basic principles of photography, and the Digital SLR camera!. Go to a community college, and sit in a few photography classes!. Luckily in the US they are readily available to you!.

After you've attended the classes for a few weeks, and read a book or two, you could move to the next step!. A good camera, that is relatively expensive is the Rebel XSI with 18-55mm lens!. Honestly, unless you're a professional photographer making a lot of money, a $3000 isn't going to offer much more to you!.

When you take the photography courses, you will learn everything you need to know to get you started!. The Rebel XSI is a great camera for you to start with !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are absolutely right!. You don't have a clue what you are 'm talking about!.
f/1!.8 deals with speed of light exposure as does f/19 (which is common only in higher end digital and film cameras which can computer compensate for lighting needs)!.

True, interchangeable lenses are 'interchangeable'!. Good work Mr!. Holmes on figuring that one out!.

Right now, I don't think you really want to shell out a lot of money on a professional camera!. The money needs to be spent on education - knowing how to use it and what things affect and result in creative photography!.

You admit that you know nothing about photography yet you want to blow money on equipment you don't know how to use!?!.!.!. Why not buy a Race Horse!.!.!. you don't know anything about horses, do you!? Same result!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Geez another one!. Money isn't going to make you a good photographer!.

Lens' don't take beautiful photos!. People do!. If you can't take a good shot on a cheap camera, you definitely won't be able to on a expensive one!.

My photography professor at college made me do something that helped me more than anything!. She made us use (film of course) and only a 50mm lens!. That way you make sure every shot is perfect!. No cropping in photoshop, no fixing lighting, no crazy lens' to hide behind!. After we could make a great shots with limited tools, we could master the great lens'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
