Question: Need a used Nikon dSLR body with a screwdriver!. D50 and D70s are so equipped!? Not the D40 and D60!?

I smashed my Nikon D50 and need to buy a used replacement body!. I just wanted to verify that both the D50 and D70s have built-in AF motors!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

LOL!.!.!. obviously some people are not understanding your terms!. I am NOT a Nikon person, but yes, as far I understand, the D50 and D70 have the "screwdriver", i!.e!. auto focus motor in the body!. The D40 and D60 do not and require the auto focus motor in the lens!. I'm not sure about the D80, D90 blah blah blah!. God, this never ending pile of "new" digital cameras is ridiculous!. Canon and all the others are just as bad!.

I suppose Nikon did this for cost purposes, but the whole thing just seems totally assinine to me!. Very confusing!. I also tend to think it was done to sell more "dedicated" lenses for the no auto focus bodies, and then people end up having to buy yet more lenses if they later buy a camera that does have the in body AF motor!.

Just seems like a lot of needless complication to me!. Shame on you Nikon!.
