You can't be serious!?

http://dpreview!.com/ <-- skim over the DSLR reviews, Nikon forums, retouching forum, open talk forum, pro digital talk forum, news forum, and lighting forum (do this for 2 years, daily)!. Do not participate; dpreview forums get out of hand!. Then read (not skim) and learn 90% of the glossary http://www!.dpreview!.com/learn/!?/Glossary!.!.!.

http://caedes!.net <-- read the forums and comment on photos for 1-2 years on a daily basis!.

Read most of the posts on http://strobist!.com up to the beginning of 2008 (i've been slacking off); pretty much the links/videos, lighting 101, etc!.

Join a few groups on flickr (Nikon D200/300, Strobist, etc) and skim over those (but don't participate) for about a year!.

Skim over the http://fredmiranda!.com forums for about a year (landscape forum mostly)!.

Look at the photos on http://timecatcher!.com and study them (like note the shutter speed/filters/etc)!. also do this with random photos on flickr!. And any other picture that you see!.

Read most of the random photography websites you hear of (luminous-landscape, what the duck, photoinf, photoshop guys, super nova, fstopmag, weekly shot, dslreports/forum/dimaging, normankoren, widerange, http://www!.cs!.duke!.edu/~parr/photography!.!.!. http://www!.berniecode!.com/writing/photog!.!.!. !.!.!. and many other sites!. Oh yes, and don't forget about cambridgeincolor!.

After you read all of those, now read them again!. :-/

At the same time you do all of this practice photography for 2-3 years!. Practice with a DSLR, 35mm, medium format slr, and a 4x5 camera!. However, i made the mistake of reading more than practicing!. I hardly take any photos compared to how much i read!.

Ummm!.!.!. oh yes, and then make a darkroom in the laundry room!.

Shop for a camera - you'd be surprised how much you learn when you do this!.

My golden rule: DO NOT TAKE A PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS!

PS: the link that doesnt work up above is right here: http://www!.cs!.duke!.edu/~parr/photography!.!.!.

*edit* Don't forget to search youtube for photoshop tutorials!. And other photoshop tutorials in general!. Photoshop CS# and lightroom are very important in photography!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Point and click!. Buy a camera and read the accompanying literature!. Today's cameras practically take their own pictures!. The most important thing is the subject matter!.

I know, that's an oversimplification!. Photography is a real art!. You learn by doing!. Hope you have a digital camera!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Please--it really is too much to cover!.

When I taught a friend & a nephew how to use their dSLR, it took a few weekends, just to go over the basic camera knowledge!. It's better if you take a photography class at a local college (or high school if you're still in high school)!. It's not flying a jet, but it just can't be learned in one sitting!.
