Question: I'm doing a film project for school!. What's easier: Filming on a black background or a white one!?
I want to get a nice background going and I don't care if it's black or white, but what one is easier to film on and the easier one to light!? I don't have any lighting equipment, nor do I want to buy any!. I do have some high powered lights I could use though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

White would be more difficult to eliminate unwanted background shadows unless you have the means to diffuse the light, such as umbrellas or light tent!. Black absorbs the light, so it would be easier to shoot without distracting shadows if you do not have means of diffusion!.

White is going to be brighter because it reflects light!. Black will absorb the light!. If you want the film to be dark and moody, shoot on a black background because it will be dark!. Otherwise, the white will be brighter because it will reflct any light which hits!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
