Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Silver would have been very expensive!. Silver tarnishes to an almost black colour while Copper tarnishes to a nice green!. And probably some thieves would have tried to steal the silver!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Silver is as reactive as copper!. Indeed, silver is so reactive that it is used in film to "tarnish" when the light hits it!. If the statue was made of silver it would have taken France's national budget to finance it!. also, it would probably look like a splotchy lump of coal today!. If reactivity is of real concern to you then make your statues out of 22K or better gold!. They will look the same in 4000 years as they look today!. That's a good investment!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Gold would have been an even better choice, a lot heavier tho, and hugely more expensive!. Back then copper had fewer uses (no electrical systems) and cost less and aluminum was a lot more expensive - the Washington Monument has an aluminum pyramid on to tip because it was gem quality and durable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com 500 times more expensive and people would try to steal hunks of it!. To impracticalWww@QuestionHome@Com i guess it was more expensive to make idk history is so confusingWww@QuestionHome@Com jjcoffin has it on the money give him the ten pointsWww@QuestionHome@Com |
