Question: How do I seal acrylic paint on wood!?
I've painted little images onto some flat wooden beads with ordinary acrylics, and varnished them with an artist's matt varnish afterwards!.
But I've just realised that it's chipping off! If I scratch the surface a little bit with my nail, the paint is coming off!. I thought the varnish would seal the painting onto the wood, but obviously not!.

Please help! Is there any way for me to seal the paint on so it won't chip off!? Starting all over again with a different kind of paint is not an option!.!.!.

Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try a polyurethane from a hardware store!. The finish should be strong enough!. You may be unsuccessful however, because the wooden beads were not sealed before applying the water based paint, so there is nothing for the paint to stick to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you have to apply a layer of jesso on the wood by brush !. you can mix it up with water before use !.then paint and don't be care about this!. if you don;t have jessso you can use wood grease ( poly vinil estat)!.

I refinished wood furniture for 25+ years!. You have to prepare the surface properly before covering it!. I suggest priming the wood first and then painting with enamel paint!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
