Question: I Don't Do art at High School but want a career in animation etc!. wat should i do!?
Hi, Im 17 (last year of school next year) and live in New Zealand!. I don't do art at school (kinda wish i did), but instead do it privately!. I want to eventually go to Cal Arts or Woodbury university (through financial aid), doing character animation, after there go to Pixar or dreamworks etc!. working up the ranks as an animator eventually becoming a director and screenwriter of live action and animated films!.

I can, after high school, go to community college to gain my art credits!. My question is do i need art credits for my career choice or is my private art good enough!. My other career path is going to film school in wellington!. Does anyone have any feedback on these choices!? also first hand accounts of anyone who has done anything here would be useful!.
Thanks alot, :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Doing both would be helpful!. I've heard the private schools get you closer, but depending on who you want to work for, they might not be enough!.!.!.

And if you want to go straight to Cal Arts, it probably won't work!. Most Universities/etc!. accept more transfer students than straight from high school applicants, so the Comunity College start would probably be good!. Ask around a bit for sure!.

As you know though, it's not necessarily the amount of schooling that counts, but the lever of skill too!. Just make sure you get into practice animating, maybe post some stuff around!. Work with story lines, etc!. I know there are quite a few Youtubers who do this, and for some they use stuff that received good ratings as their portfolio!.

I left a link below with someone who does this sort of thing!. They're either professional or working towards it I think!? They may have info!.!.!.

I wish you good luck!^_^Www@QuestionHome@Com

The art credits would definitely be helpful, but when you apply for things make sure you tell them you have a portfolio of private work to show them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
