I don't know what kind of art you're asking about, but In the graphic design world there is a distinct difference between BA and BFA

BA is Bachelors of Arts
BFA is Bachelors of Fine Arts

BA graduates tend to produce work that is good, even great!. But BFA graduates are usually put through a more rigorous program, are granted acces to more advanced courses, and more often times!.!.!. a bit more skilled!. This is not to say a BA and a BFA could not produce the same quality of work, but it is something a company WILL notice and take into consideration in their evaluation process!.

Having a good porfolio is more than half the battle!. If you create a portfolio with well rounded work that shows experience, critical thinking, and good craft then your off to a great start!.

I would never say that it doesn't matter if you have a degree or not!. Regardless of the job you are perusing! Company's are getting hit hard economically lately, and they don't want to take risks!. Any type of degree shows that you had the discipline and determination that it takes to own up to the offered job!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

BA = Bachelor of Arts (an undergraduate degree for either the liberal arts or sciences)

BFA = Bachelor of Fine Arts (an undergraduate degree specifically for the visual arts or performing arts)

As for getting a job as a professional artist, you really don't need a degree at all!.!.!.that's a myth!. I'm doing an undergrad in history but I'm also a professional artist, at a reputable gallery in Ottawa!. All you need is the talent!Www@QuestionHome@Com
