For a night scene you need to use longer exposures!. I am assuming that the S mode is shutter priority!. This is the mode to use on this camera for a night scene!. Shutter speeds are listed by fractions of a second!. So 1/30 is about a third of a second, the shutter is open for that long!. 1 is one second, and the shutter is open for that long!. You will need a tripod to shoot with slow shutter speeds like this!. Just start by setting the shutter speed to about 1/30 take a pic, if it is still dark, go up to 1/60, etc!. until it comes out properly exposed!. Most blurring is a result of camera shake with slower shutter speeds so you will need to use a tripod or mono pod!. You can get either at wal-mart for a small price!. I think the mono pod is about $10, and the tripod can be as little as $20 or up to $40 at wal-mart!. The tripods are lower quality than you will get at a camera store or website, but will do in a pinch!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. Get a tripod, or put the camera on something solid!.
2!. Set teh camera to take a picture seconds after you have pressed the button!.

The blurriness was caused by the fact that it was dark and the camera selected a shutter speed that was very slow!. Your hand was shaking!.
