No you don't need a license or degree to take photos!. You don't even need to be good at it!. You do need to know what is required by your city, county, state and federal government!. You can get help from your local government, this is a good resource too: http://www!.sba!.gov/Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need three things

* some kind of formal education in photography, so you can use any camera, anywhere to produce marketable images on demand!.
* from 2 to 5 years experience using your skills working with a professional photographer as an assistant
* A good background in business !.!.!. if you do not have that, you can call your local SCORE office and they can help you write a business and marketing plan and build a P&L sheet projected out at least 24 months listing your fixed and variable expenses!. This will help you set your prices so you can afford being a photographer!.

The only license you will need is a business license!.

Your expertise and samples will show you do or do not know what you are doing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

On another note, you may need a permit to do certain photo shoots depending on the location or the subject, so you may want to check about that if you aren't sure!.

When someone comes in and sees you have no credentials, they may be turned off, but it doesn't mean you can't work!. You just won't be getting clients who want what they consider a real professional!. You can easily take work from friends and family and by word of mouth without trying to start a complicated business right now!.

You need some education, either in business or in art geared toward photography before setting up a studio!.

In the mean time, get some education, take lots of pictures to practice, do photo shoots for friends, family, and neighbors to get experience!. And good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!. you'll need to set up some legalities when you actually own the business, but to take photos all you need is a portfolio of pictures YOU have actually takenWww@QuestionHome@Com
