Question: How much to sell SLR equipment for!? - Please Help!.!?
Hello Everyone,

I’ve recently lost my D40 and kit lens!. I have some manual lenses, camera bodies and filters, I’m thinking of selling!. Would you be able to tell me what price I might sell them at!? Any help would be much appreciated as the cash from the sale would help me buy a new DSLR!. The Flickr photos below aren’t mine they are just for comparison!. My stream is at http://www!.flickr!.com/photos/workfaction

I hate to let go of them but here they are:

1!. Zoom-NIKKOR Auto 1:3!.5 f=43mm–86mm
Serial number for this one is 460287
Nippon Kogaku Japan

Description:

Excellent condition (very tiny minor scratches on the zoom barrel)

2!. Samyang Zoom Macro 1:5!.6-7!.1 f=100mm-500mm

3!. Zoom-NIKKOR Macro 1:3!.5-4!.5 f=35mm-105mm
Serial number for this one is 2066563
Nikon

Description:

Good condition (minor scratches on edges of front lens element)

4!. Filters- 52 mm
1!. Nikon Japan L39
2!. NIKKOR Japan R60
3!. Nikon Japan L37c
4!. COASTAR Japan 85A
5!. COASTAR Japan 85B
6!. HOYA Japan Y(K2)
7!. HOYA Japan Skylight(1A)
8!. TIFFEN U!.S!.A!. 80A
9!. Soligor Japan 82A
10!. Vivitar Japan 85
I would like to sell them as a bunch!.

5!. 2 Nikon F bodies!.
I would like to sell them together as Body 1 (serial number 6908424) works perfectly but the viewfinder, which is interchangeable with all F cameras, has a crack on the upper portion!. Does not need any repair unless the crack bothers anyone!.

Body 2 (serial number 6991308) works alright but there seems to be a problem at slow shutter speeds the screen does not come back until you change the speed!. I think it is some oil leaked that’s slowing down or halting the screen!.

Either way both cameras complement each other as one could be used to fix the other or both can be fixed and used!.

According to http://www!.destoutz!.ch/typ_production_da!.!.!.
The 6908424 F was made between MAY 1968 and JULY 1968
The 6991308 F was made between APR 1969 and JUNE 1969

Thank you,
Deepak!.

p!.s: it’s almost disheartening to loose something you cherish so much!.
Bye bye my trusty reliable d40!. All you guys who have one treat her well!. : )Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's amazing to me how well Nikon F bodies maintain their value!. I mean, I would have spent $200 for just a body, and yet today 30 yrs later, I'd still have to spend $200 for a body!.
Unfortunately, both of your bodies are in need of some form of repair or at least a good cleaning!.

YOur lenses are fairly average, even the Nikon lenses!. The Nikon zooms are average, the telephoto zoom is good!. But won't get a huge amt!.

I would expect that if you are selling EVERYTHING together, then I'd expect about $400, $500 if lucky!. The worst part is that both F bodies need some work!. That will keep your value down the greatest!. Camera lenses are pretty cheap nowadays!. I have tried selling camera lenses several years ago, and it's very hard to get decent money for them becuase the market is low from regular people!. Everyone is into quick and easy digital cameras!.

You might try placing an ad online on Craigslist, and look for a large city nearby you, because it doesn't work for small towns!. But you can look at the photography stuff for sale and get an idea what you might get for all of it!. And then you can place a free want ad on Craigslist to sell your stuff!. But becareful of scams!. Always ask for cash and sell to people who will only see the stuff in person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would go to a Wolf Camera or Ritz Camera place and ask!.!. because I think they let you trade in the stuff too and get maybe would let you get the other camera you're intersted in purchasing!.!.

I traded in my Mini DV Camera!.!.at Best Buy!.!.!.and got another one!.!.after 4 years of purchase!.!.

Asking doesn't hurt!.!.!.good luck :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Take a look a eBay!. It usually has equipment you can easily compare yours to in order to get a good price range!. also, you may be interested in selling it all, or as much as you can at once!. Several places that buy used equipment advertise in photography magazines!. One such place that buys used equipment is Adorama at www!.adorama!.com!. Hope you get all you need for your new camera!.
