Question: How would I create a photograph like this WITHOUT photoshop!?
Okay, I've seen a lot of pictures like this, and most of them are with fast moving objects, like Nascars or motorcycles!.

I want to know how they created the pictures, and how I can make pictures like this of my own without using photoshop!.

Is it possible!? If not, please explain how they got the picture to look like this!.

This requires a technique called 'panning'!. Basically, you move the camera as you make the exposure!. The idea is that if you are moving the camera at a rate that approximates the rate of the moving subject, then the shutter will capture the subject as stationary and the background will be blurred!.

The major thing is that you have to move the camera smoothly, and you must keep moving it during and after the release of the shutter!. There is a great tendency to stop moving as soon as you hear the click of the shutter, and that's a mistake!. Move smoothly, and keep moving until after the shutter click is over!.

Obviously, this somewhatly experimental, so every shot won't come out as expected!. Practice!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The blur is due to camera motion, so you can do this with any camera!. The technique is move the camera smoothly to keep the subject in the same position within the frame, and squeeze off the shot without disturbing the motion!. You want to be using a relatively slow shutter speed (not the automatic Sports mode) in order to get some blur!. It takes some practice, and not all your shots will be good!.

If you look at the picture you can see that everything except the motorcycle, even the road under the bike, is streaked from panning the camera!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

With regards to your 2 lat questions:
a!. If you keep the camera still that will not blurry the subject!.
b!. Panning (moving/rotating the camera horizontally and clicking while moving) is quite hard to master!. I would not recommend to start with that!.

With regards to the question:
Some of the answers are joking!.

The shot was made with a tele-lens!. Th reason the background is blurred is because they are far outside of the "depth of field"!. and therefore unsharp!. You can see the same effect in many field-sports shots!.

If you want to replicate the effect:
Read the sources below!. As you can see: first link has pictures with the background blurred , whereas the advice in the Second link is for "normal" cameras and therefore does not have the background blurred!.

a!. Get/borrow a long Lens!.
b!. Blur the background in photoshop if you have too!.

Good Luck

those are really simple!. set the camera's f-stop (or is it apature!.!.!.) so the lens will stay open for longer than one thousandths of a second!. the more time the lens stays open the more movement it will capture, giving a blurry image if the object is moving at a high speed!. it will also affect the amount of light!. but if you play around with it you can figure it out!. good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

pretty sure you can do that on a camera but it would be a reallly expensive one !.!.!. photoshop would be wayy easyier

sorta like that instead of blurring the background you should use another effect that makes it look fast like that car or whatever lolWww@QuestionHome@Com

That is called panning!. It takes some practice to get right!. You follow the subj with the camera and at some point trip the shutter and follow through!. The background will blur with the subject sharp!. It take practice to perfect that technique but it is a very impressive way to show motion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is how the picture is done!.

The camera man is in a car or other moving object and moving at an equal speed to the motorcycle!.
You can try this if you and your friends drive!. Drive the cars side by side and will get the same effectWww@QuestionHome@Com

Thats not using photoshop!. All you need is a powerful telephoto zoom on your camera and focus on the subject of the image!. The telephoto will ensure that the background is blurred!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
