I have always considered myself good at drawing!. As I have grown and my work has improved, my definition of "good" has changed!. Now I know that I am good, the best I have ever been, but I also know there is room for improvement!. To me, drawing is a lifelong pursuit - I could never put a number of hours on it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A lot! You cant really measure this in hours- would perhaps be more appropriate to measure in years!. You kind of have to constantly draw and draw and over the years you will, of course get better and better!. Practice does make perfect!. Personally I don't think you are either born with the capability to draw or not!. I just think it depends on the amount of practice and how often you draw!. If a person was looking to improve - I would recommend sketching constantly-even if its on the paper bag your lunch came in, on the train home!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Aestheticallyy gifted people are those who start out with just the amount of talent that is incredible!. Since most aren't in that category it takes a lot of hours of doing it constantly!. But please, understand that you personal unique style maybe far better than the drawings you personally consider "good"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i don't count my hours- but yeh, it is more about how many hours you do than years because say someone say been drawing for a year, a year doesn't mean much if in actualith they drew for an hour or less a day!.

but say there is someone with 6 months, and they drew 8 hours a day, i'm sure their "time information" will be much more meaningful than the "person whose been drawing for a year!."

I am not good at drawing yet, I draw whenever I can but I think i'll need a good 5 years to be "decent!." - decent as in I can draw well especially in comparison to the average adult/person who doesn't really draw, but so amateur compared to those who've been at it for longer and that started out with more talent than me!.

I would say, hmmm, you can't really generalize because everyone has different abilities but I would say you could get good in 3 - 6 months if you practise solidly everyday for hours, passion and honesty!.

good - as in - in a rudimentary sense, by then you would probably have a steady hand, good line consistency, !.!.!.!.and be able to draw well from observation with lines, and shape, maybe even being accurate with where shadings should go!.

but you'd still be a lonng way off to be truly good!.!.!.!?!? unless you're very very talented, like gifted to begin with!.- true giftedness as been documented is quite rare btw!.

Can't be measured in hours, just years!. I've been drawing for 17 years, and I'm still not good enough!.
Depends what you describe as good, as well!. I'm very good compared to most people, and still pale in comparison to many people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
