The tree of life, also called the world tree, has a lot of its roots (no pun intended) in many pagan and gnostic religions as well!. The basic idea is the trunk is the part we see first on our own eye-level!. It symbolizes what is called the middle world, or the physical world in which we live!. The branches go up to the upper world which is the place of the divine, or superconscious!. The roots go down to the lower world (NOT the same as hell) and symbolizes the subconscious!. The tree can be used in meditation to reach different levels of consciousness by climbing branches or descending through the roots!. There is not enough room here to go into detail about what the three worlds mean!. The tree of life is a very strong symbol!. Try Googling for more information - there's tons of it out there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are many accounts of teh Tree of Life used in ancient art!. Look for it done by the Maya, the Celts, and yes, in the Bible!. It means things like life, growth, rebirth, creativity, uniting the heaven(s) with earth (by ground and sky), sustinence, knowledge, immortality, a blessing, and many other things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the Garden of Eden, God planted 2 trees (besides all the other trees and plants) the Tree Of Knowledge and the Tree Of life!. He told Adam and Eve that they could eat of every plant and tree in the garden, Including the Tree of Life!. The only thing they could not eat of was of the Tree Of Knowledge!. But!. !. !. they ate it anyway!. and were banished from the garden before they could also eat of the Tree Of Life!. The tree of Knowledge is knowledge of evil!. Because they ate it, they could now know and commit evil!. The tree of life would have given them ever lasting life!. God didn't want them to live forever and do evilly through out the world!. Christ was hung on the tree (the cross) to atone for mankind's sins!. Through him, man will be saved, only if they believe in Jesus Christ and ask pardon for their sins!.

For a tattoo, you could have the tree's branches reaching up to the sky with images of Jesus, the Bible, doves, and the arc of the covenant!. In its branchesWww@QuestionHome@Com
