A great beginner camera is the RB67 or Nikon FG with prime!.

Well built and very affordable!. Under $200 and $50!.

Yeah the N65 is a good camera!. If you are going to go that route you might look into the N90 instead!. A little better!.

Stay away from Canon EOS cameras!. They do not allow you to use the affordable manual focus legacy lenses like Nikons do!.

I do not recommend digital for beginners!. The slow, conserved and methodical way of film is conducive to really learning the basics of photography!. Digital will always be there in the future!. Learn the roots first!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The camera you picked is a film camera, not a digital camera!. If that's what you're looking for then the one you picked out is pretty nice!. It's a very basic SLR and lens but it's a good camera to learn on!.

I would suggest a digital camera, especially for a beginner!. With film you get one chance!. With digital you can snap and snap and snap without wasting any "film"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The first one you linked to, yes!. The second one, no!. The Coolpix is a point-and-shoot!. If you want to just whip it out and get a picture of something, go for it!. If you want to learn photography, go for the first one!. Or something else entirely!.

No film camera is going to cost too much, especially older ones!. Which are usually built better too!. Id est metal instead of plastic in many cases!. Professional quality cameras are more robust!. Anyway, for learning, get a fully manual SLR!. eBay, Craigslist, yard sales, Flea Markets, et cetera!. You can try KEH!.com too!.

The models I suggest are Fujica ST801, Minolta X-700, Canon AE-1, and possibly a Pentax K1000 SE!. Everyone on here usually has the same models to suggest, and really it's mostly preference!. The RB67 or RZ67 are medium format SLRs!. Take into account the extra bulkiness and expense of film compared to 35mm, and if you're OK with that, it's not a bad choice!.

Your intended subjects are an important factor when considering lenses!. For general purpose, a 50 or 55mm prime lens (no zoom factor) will be the best!. So start with that, and if you want to zoom, get a zoom lens as an extra!. The zoom range depends again on what you want to shoot!. 28mm is wide-angle and 80mm is telephoto, as examples!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

digital-wise i think the nikon d40 is very good for beginners!.
for film, the camera youve chosen is good but you may want to look into some canon eos modelsWww@QuestionHome@Com
