Question: Figure artist's paradox!?
As an amateur male figure artist that prefers to draw the female form, I am stuck on this question: Is there is an equal drive within the model to be seen or portrayed as art or is it something done only for the money!. And, in general, will my finished artwork be interpreted as art, capturing the sensual beauty of the female form OR am I only degrading and otherwise insulting all women!? I know all people are different - I ask this just to get a raw sample of the responses and to see if it's a valid question or if I am obsessing over a trivial issue!.

as an artist that prefers to draw the male form, but has also utilized many female models--most models are in it for the money!.!.!.and i think they get off (just a little) on being exhibitionists!. as one female model put it!.!.!.i have a great body and i don't mind showing it :) and two of my males artists like to frequent nudist beaches and resorts!. i have never had any model tell me they were in it "for the art", but there are always exceptions!.
a piece of art that deliberately degrades and insults ALL women is still art!. it all depends on the intent of the artist!. you can be respected for your voice and your work, even if your message is repulsive to many!.
the way your art is perceived depends, in part, on your skill level, and in part on your intent!. but also on your audience!. who is your audience!? are you creating a nude for the educated and enlightened viewer!? mom and pop farmer!? joe-six-pack!? needless to say, each will perceive your nude based on their beliefs, education and life-experiences!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I think that "capturing the sensual beauty of the female form" has NOTHING to do with the reason she has posed for you!.
You only create that look in her eyes!.!.!. you don't know what's going through her mind!.
I mean, come on, maybe Mona Lisa was just thinking how her landlord would be surprised when she paid the rent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
