Question: Another question about large prints - possibly done on a canvas!?

I'm planning on getting large prints of our Bloodhound for my fiances new office!.
My plan was one of her at 3 months (which I cannot find the negative for, but I do have the picture) and one of her now (at 3 years - which would be done with a non-digital 35 mm lens)!.
My question is - what is the best and cheapest way to do this to get a quality product - I would like it to be done on canvas or something that would not need immediate framing!. However, if this cannot be done at a reasonable price (Walmart has photo canvas 16x20 for just over $60) how would you suggest I accomplish this!?

My mom threw in the suggestion that I get a black and white print of the dog divided into three separate canvases that would, of course, go next to each other on the wall!. However, that sounds really!. really!. expensive for someone fresh out of college like myself!.

Basically, I've never done anything like this, although I love photography and it was a hobby of mine when I was younger!. Any suggestions you could give on where to go, pricing, etc, would really help me out - and let me know how much Ramen Noodles I'll be eating next month!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, you could do this yourself!.
Its pretty easy!.
1!. Buy a pre-stretched canvas in the size you want and acrylic medium!. (at any art supply store, and maybe wal-mart)
2!. Go to Kinkos or any printing shop and print the pic (flipped horizontally) you want the same size as the canvas (or smaller if you want to paint around the edges) with an INKJET printer/copier
3!. Put 5 coats of acrylic on both the canvas and the print letting it dry in between each layer!.
4!. Put a final coat of acrylic on each and then lay the print down onto the canvas, smoothing out all the air bubbles, making sure it is placed where you want it!.
5!. After it dries, use a damp cloth to remove the paper from the back- what is left is the ink that was on top of the paper!.
6!. After all paper is gone and surface is dry, apply one final layer of acrylic!.
7!. Presto, you are amazing!. You have done it for like $15-20 and you can boast you did it yourself :)

Plus if you invoke your artsy side and want to play- there are all kinds of interesting things you can do with this method (ie use rocks, wood, the wall, whatever instead of canvas) or place the picture in all kinds of interesting ways (ie your idea of separating onto 3 canvases!.!.!. you would just cut the print before starting the process)Www@QuestionHome@Com
