Lighting is such a huge part of BW photography--early morning light, when its soft and has no shadows is my favorite! Composition meaning like, balancing the sides, framing the subject carefully, and making interesting choices that the eye would be drawn to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I look for textures, and tones!. The trick for me is to look at colors as tones, and try to determine how tones will work well together!.Contrasts, gradients, patterns etc!. Something that was greatly instructive to me was to spend an afternoon looking at several different black and white movies from several different eras!. I deconstructed each scene and looked at how the lighting for the scene was arranged, and what elements of the scenery worked!. Background, wardrobe, makeup etc!. Took a while to boil it all down, but it really made me see better black and white images!.Try it!.
