Question: Is it just me!? Does $100 sound way too expensive for a LOMO camera!?

What! Are they on crack!? $100 for a PLASTIC camera!? I looked at those links!.!.!.for that price, you could get a REAL twin lens reflex camera!. In fact, I got my Yashica A in great condition on eBay for about $65!. So for $100 you could get a nice vintage camera and a bunch of film!. Heck, with $100 I could buy another Yashica A and probably like 5 or 10 rolls of Plus-X film!.

So gee!.!.!.let's think about that for a minute!. $65 for a real, metal, mechanical, vintage camera with excellent optics!.!.!.versus $100 for a cheap plastic camera made in China!. hmmm, which one should I choose!? :)

So yes, $100 is way, WAY too much!. I would much rather spend that money on a real camera and film!. I think the whole "lomography" fad is really taking advantage of people who just don't know any better!. A lot of them have probably only ever used digital cameras, and so they want to try something different and use film!.!.!.but instead of getting a REAL film camera, they just get into the fad and buy a toy camera!.

In some ways, the lomography fad is good because it's generating a lot more interest in film!. But the problem is that some places are taking advantage of people who don't know any better!. They think that somehow lomography cameras (Holga, Diana, etc) are "special!." People don't understand that the strange effects are actually DEFECTS caused by the camera - color fringing and soft focus from the poor quality plastic lens, and rays and streaks on pictures caused by light leaks!. I even saw one website advertising "lomography film"!.!.!.do the poor morons that actually buy that know that there is no such thing as "lomography film"!?!? Film is film!.

I'm sure lomography cameras are fun to play with, IF people understand clearly what they are and they are actually just inferior plastic cameras!. They're just toys!. I've actually thought about getting a Holga camera just to play around with it!.!.!.but if I did, I wouldn't pay anymore than $30 for it at the absolute most!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Thirty dollars would be my limit if I even wanted one!. If I really wanted the look of a Holga photo, I would imitate it using filters and darkroom techniques!.!.!.Well, hypothetically, as I don't DO darkroom techniques at the moment!. However, short answer is that almost any price is too much for something with traits shared by a pile of Jenga blocks that somehow manages to record light!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hummm, yeah at what price point does a lomo camera cease to be a lomo camera!? One of the beautiful things about a Holga is that if it gets run over by a car it is no big deal!. If I'm going to have the lomo look in my photos, I don't want to spend 100 bucks for it!. Plus, to me at least, 35mm film and lomo do not go together!. I'll stick with my Holga 120!.
