what are some famous paintings that you know of!? i am looking for examples such as the the ones in the Sistine Chapel, where the painting itself is ON THE WALL!. not framed like the Mona Lisa!. wall paintings please!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are talking about 'Fresco's' I think!. These were applied straight onto wet lime plaster so as to become an integral part of the fabric of the wall they were painted onto!. It was used by many ancient cultures including the Greeks and Romans!.
It was particularly popular in Italy during the Renaissance and artists such as Michelangelo, Da Vinci and Raphael were particularly renowned for this!.
Many fresco's were commissioned by the Church or by powerful families at the time and many of them are still adorning church walls and ceilings today!.
If you google 'Famous Fresco's' It might give you a comprehensive list to work from!.
The one in the Sistine Chapel is by Michelangelo and is probably the most famous one!. It is 'Last Judgement' & 'Genesis'!.
Raphael painted many of the rooms in the Vatican itself in the apartments of Pope Julius II, usually referred to as 'Raphael's rooms'!.
Piero della Francesca painted the fresco's in the Bacci Chapel, Arrezo!.
Some other artists you might want to look up would be Giotto or Masaccio!.

Mural usually refers to paintings that are painted on top of a wall rather than into the wet plaster!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
