As a Wedding Photographer for around twenty-five years I can't believe what I'm reading!.
What monumental arrogance from some of your respondents!.
They have the indescribable nerve to tell someone who is PAYING you that she is an idiot and hasn't got a clue what to choose so they will choose for her!.

Is it because you think she might choose pictures which don't show off your wonderworks to their best advantage!? Oh, deary me!

Is it because you want her money but you don't want the boring inconvenience of waiting for the bride to give you her choices!? Bummer!

You seem to forget that two people are not getting married just to give you an income!. You are there for them, they are not there for you, so get over yourselves and show some respect!.

In answer to the original question, I usually wait from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with odd ones going a little over that!.
But wait is what I do, and let the bride - and groom - choose is what I do; some of the reasons that particular photos are chosen are frankly baffling, but they are paying me to be baffling and let them choose what they want for whatever reason they want!. I'm not cheap, and I'm guessing your other respondents are even less cheap, so I'm not complaining and neither should they!.

Not one second!. When I met with brides and they saw my albums, it was understood that if they wanted an album, I was in control from start to finish!. I never had any complaints from any of my digital collage albums!.

Now if the bride did NOT want an album, it has been as long as three YEARS before they get around to ordering individual photos!. I could never understand that!. Just be sure and keep good, duplicate archives of all photos!. I had a full wedding on a DVD that would not open at all once!. Thankfully I had made two backups, and the second worked fine!.

But if you wait around for the bride to select photos for the album or "approve" of design, then you will often be fighting a losing battle!. You will never satisfy many of them, but if you take full control and present them with a very nice album design with all the important photos, they will be happy!.

When including the album in the price, let the bride choose the size and quality of the album before hand and the layout should be left up to you, that way you get paid on delivery of the product!.
The main album is the one comprehensive package containing what you think are the best frames,(anywhere between 20 - 40 shots comprising mainly of shots of the couple and family, with a few guests) if she wants a second album it'll cost and it means extra money in the pocket!.
Thats the way I do it, it may be their special day but you are the Photographer, so make it known that your word is law, !.!.!.!.with a smile of course!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used to wait FOREVER, so I started pre-designing!. Lay out the album the way YOU'D like it to look, including the pictures you think best tell the story of the day!. It makes a HUGE difference!. See Gary Fong's dvd for more detailed info, that's really where I got the idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
