Question: Is is true!? Picasso sketched on the back of a bank check!?
Can this be true!? Picasso went into a car dealership to buy a new car!. Cost was $25,000!. He wrote out a check for that amount, then turned the check over and drew a sketch on the back!. Then he told the dealership that the drawing on the back was worth $25,000, but if the dealer actually cashed the check, he would lose the valuable Picasso drawing!. (So, the dealer could frame the check and hang it on the wall and claim he had a Picasso worth $25,000, or he could take it to the bank!.) The story I heard never explained what the dealer did!.

I wonder if the story is really true!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It could be true because he used to pay for dinners with sketches on the napkins in the restaurant!. His signature was worth more than a dinner!. Usually a signed check by him was worth more for the signature than the amount written by him!. He never owned more than two properties in his life and that only one after the socialists took it away from him, because you could only own one house in Paris at that time!. He had a driver that drove him in his cadillac that was given to him by an american gallery in the 50's!. He was a prolific artist that did thousands of paintings, even the dove as a peace symbol was drawn by him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

From what i read about Picasso,it could be true !?
I do know for a fact, that during the 1950s/60s Picasso"s art surged in price values!. when he wanted to buy a chalet /mansion in South of France he would inspect a house with a painting under his arm,if he like it,he would just hand over the painting as transaction in which it was gladly accepted!.
The house dealers knew that it appreciate in value ,more than a house in years time,in which they did!.He did this deal with jewelry, cars,Diamonds and any other things that took his fancyWww@QuestionHome@Com
