Question: "Amplion-Reflex" how much would it sell for!?
I picked up an Amplion-Reflex, an old medium format camera, from a charity not long ago!. I've looked on ebay but have never seen one up for bids there!.

Curiosity is getting the better of me and I would like to know how much it would be worth in a more selective market than the charity shop I picked it up from!. Its in medium-good condition and needs a little maintenance of the timing mechanism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Amplion was a manufacturer of bakelite radios in North London in the 1950's, they imported a bakelite TLR manufactured by Montanus in Germany which they had named the Amplion Reflex!. There are more references to Amplion in radio and amplifier collectors circles than their 1 excursion into photography!.

It was a cheap TLR made for the boom in photography that followed after WW2 when good cameras were very expensive and difficult to get hold of!.

Condition is everything with items like this and any defect will lower the value enormously, collectors (your only market) only want mint specimens, though they may take a less than perfect specimen to fill a hole in their collection!. Often they only have to be mint cosmetically, nobody expects cameras of this quality to take pictures anymore!.

There is one for sale on eBay here in the UK here!.

As is often the case its in the wrong category being in the box camera section!. Even though this is probably as close to mint as you'll get I bet it sells for less than £10!.00, but I might be wrong!.

Below are a few links to this cameras short career!.

Addition

I've just found this auction estimate for 2007 of $41 - $61, but it didn't sell!.
