That will be a great camera for college, or otherwise!. You'll probably want to get an extra lens for it!. 150mm is a bit long for a lot of things!. Get a 50 or 55mm lens to go along with it!. Or a zoom lens with say, 28-80mm!. I don't know what's available to it specifically, but those are good lengths!. Not to say you won't be using the 150mm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The X-370 was pretty much an entry level camera, but a decent one!.It's not often the camera, but the photographer!.I think it has manual settings, so you should be ok!.
I like 35mm myself!. You can be proud of your work when a computer didn't do all the work!.
You'll need to get another lens though!.That's a zoom lens!. I'd suggest something like 28-80mm!.You'll only find it used though!.Might find something on ebay!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why would you get a film camera!? I find it difficult to believe that a school would encourage the use of film especially when you are learning photography!. Being a a student budget, you will find it hard to be buying film, processing it and making prints!. Every time you push the shutter release, it going to cost you around 50 cents a shot once you add your cost in!. This gets expensive very fast!. Digital on the other hand,!.!.!.you shoot and shoot for free!.
The industry in film processing is also dying!. It gets harder and harder to get the tools to work with film!.
My suggestion is that you get a good understanding of the relationship between ISO, shutter speeds, and apertures!. Once you got that, then come back to film is that is a road you would like to travel!.
Cameras are basically tools to capture your vision!. Whatever tool you use to do that is up to you!. But if you are starting as it seems, I would buy a inexpensive digital camera that you can use in manual mode to learn with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have one of these cameras and they are great for learning on!.
Since it takes Minolta MD lenses, you can get them from ebay for very little!.
I just saw a 50mm f 1!.4 prime Lens for $10,
And a 35-80mm f3!.5-4!.5 zoom for $15

just make sure you buy from someone that has a return policy and no recent bad feedback!.
