Question: What would make a great Graphics Portfolio!?

I'm betting you are currently doing your A2 level work (or similar if you are not in the uk!?)

If you are wanting to go to university to study graphics, my best advice would be to firstly do a foundation course!. You've probably heard about them, its a years course, completely free if you are under 19, and you do so much work based on different media and techniques that it provides you with a full portfolio whilst you are learning and getting a diploma!. The advantage to this is that you are way more likely to get into Uni next year- a good university would never consider a student possessing just A-levels over someone with A-levels AND a foundation diploma!. Your local college probably does them, completely free of charge!.

So far I've been doing a foundation course for a month now, and already have half a great portfolio!. Just a consideration, because I'm 10 times more likely to get into a good course, where I want to be, next year!.

If this doesn't appeal to you, this is what a good portfolio should consist of:

- sheets of A1 sized mounting card, in a Black A1 portfolio!.
- on each board, mount one piece of work, maybe two if they are small, etc!.
- Include pencil drawings, observational drawings, work where you have used colour, as well as just pencil!. (paintings etc,) and digital work, things done using photoshop!? photographs you've taken, posters you have designed, include anything and everything art and digital related!. they want to see a wide range of skills and experimentation, combined with technical skill and style!.

More importantly is your enthusiasm over the course you are interested in!. If you show enthusiasm then they will love you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
