Question: Would a steakknife do for widdling wood, especially willow wood!?

NO! You'll get hurt if you use a steakknife!. They aren't sharp enough for most woods!. You have to exert too much preasure to make it cut the wood!. That will cause the knife to slip and go into your hand, leg or worse!.

Anyone who carves anything will tell you that worst thing to use is a dull knife!. You get hurt less with a sharper one!.

Buy an Xacto instead!. They are common, cheep and you can change blades as often as you like!. Walmart, a hardware store, even a craft store, if it's an an Xacto, it's the same knife They usally sost under $3!. (I'd buy it some extra blades too!. about $4!.)

Those knives you see like the movies when people are whittling on there porches, those are hunting knives, much much sharper!. desined for use on animals, and all I'm saying about hunting knives!.

Xactos are surgicaly sharp, like scalpels, so be careful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
