Question: I am buying a new laptop to start my photography career, what do you like!?
I have been to all the big stores and have been shopping around on the net for a laptop to start fresh with my new career!.
I am leaning towards a mac right now!. Does it handle using Photo Shop!? I know it has a program that is similar called Aperture!. What laptop do you use/recommend and why!?
THANKS!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go with the Mac!. You will never regret it!.

I have been using Mac's since their introduction in 1984!.

Went thru business school with the first Mac laptop!. Currently use and carry everyday a MacBook Pro!.

It comes with iPhoto!. Totally plug and play!. I have plugged in at least seven different cameras and they downloaded without any additional software!.

Aperture is proprietary!.

also runs Elements and Photoshop!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What do you use now!? If you are using a Mac, stick with it!. You will have your hands full learning Photoshop without having to learn a new operating system like Windows (or Mac if you have Windows now)

You need a notebook that has at least 2GB RAM, DVD burner, largest screen you can afford (since from your question, you will be doing your editing (sorting) and photo modifications using it) and the largest hard drive made for the model notebook you eventually choose!. Since you will be working in the field, you may want to buy a 500 GB external drive for storing your WIP (Work In Process)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, there is a mac version of Photoshop!. I own a laptop and desktop and personally, I find editing photos on a 15 wide-screen very difficult and avoid it as much as I can!. I just love by 22 wide-screen desktop, though!. If you have the space and don't really need it portable I would buy a desktop with a wide screen and dual monitor video card!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hmm most people buy a decent camera to start there photography career!.!.!.

i laptop wouldnt be best as its harder to accuratly manipulate images using those silly touch pads and macs are just useless

yes i am aware of having a laptop with a mouse 'dear' but the camera is whats important why would a laptop have any real importance to your photography and you could have mentioned the fact that you allready had a cameraWww@QuestionHome@Com

I have a MacBook Pro!.!.!.my 4th Mac!. Macs gained significance in the graphic design and photography industries!.!.!.they have the power, and the tools to perform some great work on them!. Think about it, why would most design firms use macs otherwise!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The brand or OS doesn't really matter as much as the specs!. Stick with a major brand, like Mac, HP, Dell, Compaq, etc!.

Make sure it has at least 1 Gb of RAM and 100 Gb hard drive!. Use PhotoShop, or something similar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why don't you try to focus on getting better pictures at the camera instead of post-production!? You post production should be limited to cropping and rotating!. Microsoft Photo editor can do that!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
