Question: If I start art in college would I enjoy it as I do now!?
I come from a traditional Chinese home!. Mainly, I must work hard to get high grades!. So I've never taken a real elective!. I am however a serious photographer outside of school and I took art classes at RISD this summer (I begged and I begged)!. I want to be able to begin art in college, studio art I mean!. I just enjoy it and love it a lot!. I am worried however that it won't be as enjoyable, or that I won't learn as much since I won't be committed to it completely!. Any ideas!? Did you start art in college and find yourself growing in your art!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I definitely grew through my art and began to develop more artistically when I started it in university!. Learning on your own is one thing, but in a university setting, it is a lot different!. There are professors and classmates around all the time to help you with your technique, ideas, etc!., no matter how straight forward or ambitious you may wish to be!. There are people who can help you see things in a new way!. I feel that it has really opened my eyes to a lot of things that I did not see before, and I have become a better person (and a better artist) because of it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I failed all my courses at the first college I studied at!. Funny enough when I returned back for semester 2 the college closed down!. They told me the college could not afford to be open any longer due to poor enrolment!. So that was that, so to speak!.

The second college I studied at was excellent!. I was given 3 bursaries, 2 awards, one for achievement and one for the highest student average!. Now I am proud to say that I have graduated with a full Visual Arts Diploma!. I sell and display art across the country!. So to answer your question, yes, my second experience of studying at art college has definitely helped in the growth of my art!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
