Question: Do fertility statues have penises!?
My boyfriend has this statue from africa that's supposed to be a "wild man" and symbolize strength!. It's a black wooded carving of a man with a big erect penis!.

My boyfriend disagrees, but i was under the impression this was a fertility statue!? Are all fertility statues only female, or are some male!? And would this be one of them!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fertility Gods and Goddesses are often portrayed as having erect genitalia or holding said genitalia as a reference to their particular sphere of influence!. This is both a strength and a virility especially in men, such as the god Min of Egypt!. Women are usually considered 'nurturing' as well as fertile!.

The "wild man" in question may very well be -both- a 'strong' man and a 'virile' man!. To many cultures, there is no distinction between the two!. African resources may tell you more about your particular statue and it's meaning!.

Here is a site that specifically discusses the 'wild man' as it was put, in a thought of getting back to primal necessities!. Perhaps that will help you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are male and female fertility statues!. For male one look up the egyptian god Min or the roman god Priapus!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
