I am getting ready to go to school in January!. I have wanted to be a photographer for a long time, I take pictures when ever I can!. The problem is that, I just don't know how smart this would be!. I keep hearing people say that, I need to pick a major that is guarantied to make me money!. I am a dental assistant now, and do not want to have a office job any more!. So how likely am I to have a career in photography, and make money!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all depends on how hard you are willing to work to make it a success!.

I will advise though to take business courses in school, not just photography!. That is my one big regret!. You can be the greatest photographer in the world but if you've got no business sense it won't do you any good!. The reverse is also true!.!.!.you could be a less-than-talented photographer and make a lot of money!. I know people like this!.

So, take photography of course, but also take business and marketing classes and you'll be a leg up on everyone else!. Good luck! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

It takes a few things to have a successful career as a photographer!. A good technical background in photography, passion for your work, some kind of understanding of composition and design whether you take classes in art or just spend a lot of time studying fine art and the work of successful photographers!.

Combine them into a cohesive skill set and start shooting!.

When you are in school, you will start building your camera system and while working as an assistant for a few years after graduation, you can complete it so you are ready to start out on your own!. The business skills you learn while assisting, will be your entree into the business of photography!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You might be better off to spend your time in school on a major that gives guaranteed good income!. Use that income to have a good life style and buy camera equipment!. Then find paying photo jobs on the side!. If it works out, then make the transition to a career in photography!. If it doesn't work out, you still have a degree that will earn you money!. Hedge your bets!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

234,081:1 odds against it!. (I made that number up)!.

Don't laugh!.!.!. someone actually thought I was being honest and had done research on the subject the last time it was asked!.

I could tell you ways of earning a living and getting yourself into it (and getting known for your work if you happen to be good) but I can't do that in an open forum like this or my own work might be compromised!.

If you REALLY are interested in some tips, contact me at g!.alanfink@yahoo!.com and repeat your question so I know what it's all about!. I'll tell you then!.!.!. it has worked for others I've been told and it did work for me!.

YOU WILL HAVE TO HUSTLE and invest a little time and effort!.
