It all depends on how one would apply it to oneself!. It can be for capturing mementos!. It can be a hobby, just for the fun of it - not make any money!. It can be a profession - photojournalists, studio photographers, wedding photographers, fashion photographers, commercial photography!.!.!. they make some money or a lot of money, depend on the photographers!. It can be as a form of self expression as a hobby or as a profession!.!.!. artist doing photography - some make money, some just for the art of it!.
It's like any form of art, like playing the piano!. Some just play at home for themselves and maybe for other to hear them, and not make money!. And there are those who makes a profession of it and earn a living playing piano!.
It's all about what you want to do with your art!. For me it's all three - for mementos, hobby, and profession!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course it can be a job!. If you're good at it, you can get plenty of money off of it!. It can be hectic and highly competitive, though!. It has to be something you really enjoy doing!. There's studio work, photojournalism, event/wedding shooting, art sales (which should be in conjunction with something else if you plan on making a living), and plenty of other things you can do!. People will hire you based on your work portfolio!. They need photographers for all different reasons!. Someone else can list a more complete summary of jobs and explain what it's like!. It depends, in order to do photography u need to take tons of great pics!. However if u do choose to use it as a career there are many websites that will pay u per picture per download such as shutterstock!.com
