probably because you havent studied anatomy, thus you dont know the proportions of the figure that well!. by studying the figure you can get a sense of how it moves and thus how to draw it!. thats merely a sketch and you can do that too! just believe in yourself and practice shading and drawing the figure!. train your eye to see the difference between light and dark areas and you can be at it in no time!
