Question: What makes a picture/painting more valuable!?
I was observing a picture my parents bought in one of the rooms, and I noticed that it said 01/63 at the bottom!. Obviously this is not the original picture!.

I would think the original would be worth more than the copies, so here is my question:

Are one of the first copies of an artwork more valuable than one of the last!? So this one is 01/63, does that mean it is more valuable than, say, 30/63!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Is it a digital reproduction or a print!? It would be good to find this out because there can be a value difference between the two!.
Print being more valuable, as it was produced through an manual press!. Either way, no worries!. It definitely has a very good odds in become extremely valuable!. You know why!? First because you have #1of 63!. I'll let you in on something that most artists like to do,!.!.!.they usually keep the first 10 for them selves to sell later on when the value of their art goes up!. So for you to have the 1st, is excellent for you!. Second, an edition of 63 is considered a lower number for an artist to reproduce!. The fewer reproduced, the more the each reproduction is worth!. 63 is very good number!.

You have definitely made a good investment, or should I say your parents!. Congratulations! I'd take really good care of it!.

!.!.!.Some other items which would increase the value of a picture/painting is information of what it is about, an artist's statement for that piece, artist biography, and a photograph of the artist holding the picture!. Make sure if you do have any of this information to keep with the picture or painting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the number of reproductions is more important than which # you have!.

an early number is not worth more than a later one!.

what the above says is true - many artists will keep the first 'editions' for themselves - but they are not numbered!. Numbering begins with the editions that are in circulation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on who has done it
and if they get noticed Www@QuestionHome@Com
