I don't think there is a set rule!. It really depends entirely how much somebody is willing to pay for it!. Which depends a lot on quality, creativity and uniqueness (does your art look like everybody else's), maybe then material cost and time (detail) though I doubt most buyers think much about the latter!. Theoretically one should price it differently inside a gallery or outside, but as galleries charge up to 50% of commission I feel as a beginner this is though to keep to that!. It also depends where you live!. Art in New York City will be more expensive than in a small town in upstate New York!. If you visit local galleries you can check how much work comparable to yours is priced, though you also should pay attention to which price ranges actually sell!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Beginner artists tend to go lower than established professionals!. Obviously, so that they can begin to make a name for themselves!. Have a look online for similar work to yours to get a feel of price!. Usually you have to adjust either up or down a bit to find what the market is willing to pay!. But don't look at it at this stage as anything more than covering the basics - namely materials - rather than including labour!. That comes later!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

personally i would never sell my art!. but if u need money (or if u made to many and it takes up space) its a good idea!. but for a painting i'd go for $20 - $100 depends on size!. i recomend haggling!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
