If I wanted a career photographing cities, and my dream is to publish books documenting certain urban areas, how would I go about this and what are the chances of success!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off, the chances of making a living publishing books with urban/city views is very slim!. If it is a sideline to your main photography then fine!.

As to how to go about it!.!.!.!.!. just go for it!. Get a good selection of shots and initially try and get them with a good library who deals more in that type of shot (travel etc!.) than just general work!.

As well as libraries you need to get your pictures in front of editors and publishers!.
If you are in the UK then get a copy of the Freelance Photographers Handbook!.
This lists virtually all publishers, libraries etc and is the bible for freelancers!.

Success!? what is your criteria for success, making a living or being published!. If the former then you'll be lucky unless your work is outstanding and you get picked up for commissions for travel mags, books etc!.
If it is being published then easier through libraries and/or self-publishing!.

Get out there and don't be affraid of taking photos infront of people!.

Capture images which are intresting, ispiring, gloomy, etc etc

Have a variety of images!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I think a good way of going about this is to eith set up a website where you can display examples of your photos, or join up to a photo bank like fotolia (spelling!?)!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.good luck
