Cool question!

Dread: a cross on a hill!.!.!.cliche perhaps, but guaranteed to work if you shade it right; for a really esoteric/biblical theme you could use a sling and sling bullet--David's weapon!. If you look at Michelangelo's David, you see the dread and trepidation in his eyes!. that's probably a stretch, but it might work!. Door to a principal's office!. A paddle or belt held in a hand!. A cell door as viewed from inside the cell, about to close!.

Despair: Cell door might work better here, or maybe the shadow cast on the floor by light coming through a barred window!.

Mortal: memento mori!.!.!.skull, mirror, flowers, anything transient or fleetingWww@QuestionHome@Com

using color pencils for drawing

symbolize dread with colors verda terra and light tints in white and darken with black!. images of aged beauty of an object!. we all dread whats new turning old!.

despair- using dark cool shades of color blue, and grey darken with neutral color back!. images of restrained,confined,or strickened!. chains,ropes,thorny vines,pins,stakes,straps!.

Mortal- using warm colors like red,yellow,orange and neutral colors to darken or lighten!. images of water or fluid based objects for example humans are 90% made of water!. all living things need water so use your imagination around that factor!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
