The Argus C3 is called the "Brick" for good reason!. It will last you forever!. Great camera!.

The camera is so robust that it was issued to the official Korean and Vietnam News Corp of the United States Military!.

Most C3 cases had an aluminum (silver colored) disk at the bottom!. Just turn the disc counterclockwise until the Argus C3 is clear of the case!. Then pull the camera firmly, up and out of the case!. Load film and go!.

I think you will be amazed at how sharp that cheap 1950s lens on the C3 is when you see your prints!.

Fantastic inheritance!. Congratulations!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would think that there is a large screw on the bottom of the leather case!. I would suggest that you unwind that screw and then the case will come off!. The screw is screwed into the threaded area where you would screw in a tripod!.

The camera is, as one person told you, a literal brick!. It is almost indestructible, but it can have some minor problems that can be fixed!. If you learn basic photography with that camera, you will certainly know basic photography!. The problems would be whether or not the shutter speeds are correct and that the camera stops down correctly!. At most, that should cost you about $150, probably less, to get that fixed and then you can continue shooting with your grandfather's camera!. If it were my grandfather's camera, I would be proud to use it!Www@QuestionHome@Com
