Want to make polymer clay beads but my toaster oven doesnt have a temp gauge only a timer what should i do!?
Its brand new and i will only be using it for clay, no food!.
It has a timer that lets you set it up to 15 mins but i just noticed it has no temp gauge!.
can i buy something that will tell me the temp!? can i still use this toaster oven!?!?!?
I made a couple small beads in it and they seemed fine!. i think i might have just put them in a couple extra mins tho, they seemed to be a darker a color afterwards!. i might have preheated way too long!?
how long should i preheat the toaster oven for!?
im new to all this, but im really wanting to learn how to make beads and jewelry out of polymer clay

please help me lol
thanks ^_^Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi, I'm not a fan of toaster ovens because the temperature tends to 'spike' when it is baking!. However, if you have to use it, please purchase an 'oven thermometer' that you can leave in your toaster oven!. You cannot preheat too long!. Preheating just brings your temperature up to where it should be, which is 275F!. Polymer clay can be baked over and over again as long as the temperature is accurate!. I can't imagine an oven without a temperature gauge!. It just doesn't make any sense!.
Your beads darkened because your oven is too hot!.
If you can use an ordinary kitchen oven that is accurate that would be the best thing!. I have been using mine for over 10years and I clean it regularly!. If you are worried about using it, just place your beads inside one of those oven bags and after baking, take the bag outside and open it up!. No residue left in your oven!.
