Question: What is expected in a fine art portofolio!?
The universities generally give you freedom of choice and only limit you in number of drawings/ weight!. I was wondering what they expect from a good portofolio!. Or what a good portofolio should contain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A good Portfolio should contain, not only your best work but a variety of different things!. For example, different paintings you've done, sculptures, drawings, photography, prints etc etc!. I also hear that if you take some figure drawing classes outside of school it will give you a bit of an advantage, or so I've heard!. Either way it can't hurt!.

By Variety, I mean variety!. Different Mediums, meanings, concepts, styles (impressionism, surealism or abstract for example)!. also some of the more harder to get into art universities are not only looking for skills, but knowledge of mordern art!. They will ask you who your favorite working artist in our day is (someone who's still alive making art for a living that inspires you!. Leonardo Da Vinci won't cut it!. :P)!. They might also ask you if you visit museums etc etc to look at art!. It doesn't hurt to look for one in your area!. You can get a lot inspiration from art in a museum and you can network with people there!. My friend got a job at our local museum because of her love of art!.

also in your interviews show passion about your work!. Don't hold back!. Show them you LOVE art and it's a big part of your life!. They will want to teach you then!.

Best of wishes to you!. I was in your shoes last year asking the same questions!. I hope you do well!Www@QuestionHome@Com
