Notice that the pink light is in areas where the overhead lights are shining on the scene!.

So - you're either shooting with daylight balanced film or - if you're shooting digital - the white balance is either set incorrectly or this kind of lighting situation is so confusing that your camera doesn't know how to handle it!.

Okay, I just downloaded it and looked at the metadata!.

Your Canon Powershot S400 was in auto WB mode and auto exposure mode, and shot at 1/80th sec!. at f2!.8, with no flash!.

So, I conclude that your problem is mixed lighting and auto WB!.

How do you fix it!? Either choose the correct WB (in this case, it's virtually impossible because of the mixed light sources) or use flash, which will over power most, if not all, ambient light from overheads!.

And, no !.!.!. before you ask, don't try to fix this one in Photoshop or Gimp or something!. The out-of-balance colors are too far gone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

OK I'll give you a bit different answer than the other two!. To me it looks like the problem is white balance!. You have interior lights, maybe flourescent, and brite sunhine!. The sunlight will have a temperature of around 5500 degrees Kelvin!.The other lights a different temp ( it is is flourecesnt around 4000 to 4500 K ) THis differrence is fooling the auto white balance on your camera!. If you are shooting RAW you can correct this in photoshop if you are not you have to set your color balance on the camera to get things right ( and really setting it in camera is the best way overall) !. In mixed light you may want to use a white card for this and the custom white balance setting on your camera!. What camera do you have !? someone here may be able to walk you through how to do that!.

I was yearbook and school newspaper years ago its a fun gig so congrats and enjoy it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say its a problem with your white balance!. For a picture like the one you link!.!.!.white balance should be set to sun (symbol looking like the sun)!.
I would assume in the said picture there was more sun shining thru the windows then there was hallway light!.

With all photos you take, you have to adjust the white balance according to the lighting, otherwise the picture can come out different then what you see!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It might be the camera if it is new it might be faulty so take it back!.

Or it might just be done in if it is quite old!.

Or maybe it is a setting on the camera!.

Or maybe the camera needs to be looked at by someone who knows what they are doing and maybe they could work it out!.

Good Luck

And Good Luck With Your Yearbook Too :-)
