Technically, it is equal amounts of three colors, red, blue and yellow!.
But with oils it is Ultramarine Blue with Burnt Umber!.
Hope that is a start!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You really have to believe Jeff (above)!. Black is not a color, and the only "black" is by mixing the "black" pigments that are available with your oils and binders!.

The original (classical) blacks were made with "lamp black"!. You can make this yourself if you like to get messy!.

Just buy black, it is one of the cheapest pigments available!.

The closest to "black" you can get by mixing "colors" would be a dark "optical gray"!.

If it reflects light, it is not black!.

This is a test, right!?

the monitor is based on rgb, those three with lower tones create black/ gray, depending on what paints you have dark blue, dark brown, and dark violet will do for now,
~prussian blue/ burnt umber/ thio violet,
~thalo green/ raw umber/ cobalt blue,

for painting, use tones of other colors around item,

with some kinda blue/with some kinda brown makes black!. It varies between certain blue and or browns!. How much blue you can put into brown or how much brown is put in to blue!. Just experiment with color on the palette and just put them out in front of you!. Dark green with red makes a dark maroonish!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can add a color and its complement to get black!. You can also add the 3 primary colors to get black (red, yellow and blue)
Complementary colors are colors that are next to eachother on the color wheel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What!? You can't mix 2 colors together to get black!. Black is not a color!. If you mix the darkest colors together you will get a muddy ugly color, but it won't be black!.

Have you tried looking at the color wheel, and adding the complementary color to each color!?

I know the answer, but I think it would be more fun to find out for yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Orange and Blue, this can give a brown color, so keep adding blue, yellow, and red until you reach black!. It will take a bit but not too long!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
