Question: To late to learn basic art skills!?
I'm 14 years old, a freshman!. I recently gained an instant interest in art !.!.Oil pastels, chalk, charcoal, watercolors, etc!. I've only taken 1 year (last year) of any sorta of formal art teachings, which I clowned around in (this is before my interest in art, so I just did the bare minimum to pass)!. I cant change classes anymore for this year, unless I have a good reason, so if I start Art 1 next year, and do it Junior and Senior, would that be enough to get into a good art college!? I know that only time can tell, but I just want to get a good idea of it!. Art comes semi-naturally to me, so its not like I can look at something and draw it perfectly, but I'm not totally clueless!.

BTW, for anyone interested, I've been looking into going to Ringling in FL!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that should be plenty if you're interested in going into art school, and if you put your heart into those classes you'll learn a lot!.
also if your school provides it, you can go to an Art Club of some kind to learn/practice even more and it's also a nice little thing to put onto your transcript!.
Along with taking art classes in high school for your transcript, what's even more important than that is making a great portfolio to show the art schools you're interested in!.
Talk to your art teacher about helping you out to make a good portfolio and some project ideas and how to make it look the best it can be!
Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know this may sound like a flippant answer, but it's not meant that way: it's NEVER too late to learn! I realize you are thinking of going to a university where you want to study art, and it may seem late to begin, but if you really want to do so, I'd say just go ahead and work on it!. Take some summer courses if you can, do lots and lots of sketching and drawing on your own!. Art is something that you can always continue to learn and grow with, so if you have it in your heart to do this, go ahead and do it!

Good luck and trust yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
