you will have to test it first!.
some gesso surface's contain oil which will not readily accept water paints!.
you could coat it with an acrylic paint wash or an emulsion paint wash ,both of which accept water paint!.
hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Watercolors need to be painted on watercolor paper!. You can get thick paper if you want up to 300 lb paper!. It is made of cotton!. If you want to get the look of watercolor on canvas then dilute out acrylics into a wash consistancy with water!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

you cannot use water colour on prepared canvas, the surface is non absorbent so the colour does not sink in and can be wiped off!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It'll work!. Bear in mind if you dilute acrylics enough they act a bit like watercolours anyway!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would not recommended why will you want to use canvas!? it takes the fund of painting in paperWww@QuestionHome@Com
