Question: Can the aperture in the camera be compared to the pupil in the eye!?

Actually, the aperture works just like the iris that is found in the eye!. The iris, not the pupil, widens and contracts depending on the lighting situation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It can in the sense that they are both iris diaphragms and let in more or less light!. However, the eye is a muscle that is automatically controlled by the amount of light available, whereas the aperture of a camera can be manipulated by the photographer to admit more or less light in order to obtain special effects (I know that some camera adjust for this automatically but the automatic function can be overridden!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

In fact, you should except for one thing!.!.!. if you are taking an image in bright sunshine and you want to stop action!.!.!. what is your pupil doing!?

The wrong thing!.

Your pupil constricts in bright light irregardless of what you may want to accomplish!.

I prefer to use a comparison to air brush painting!. Narrow nozzle takes more time but gives more detail !.!.!. wide nozzle gets the painting out faster but not detailed!. This provides a reference to aperture and shutter!.
