Question: Do you ever get scared/nervous in the Darkroom !?
I don't know why but when i was trying to put my film on the reel , in total darkness in a small space with a another person(we have to share the darkroom because i have film photography) in there i kinda started to feel scared/nervous !. Though that is the only part that i don't like !. I did finally develop my first roll of film and i was surprised that the images actually appeared on the film ,because i thought for sure that i was going to ruin it the first time :)

I have never developed film in the darkroom, so this seems a little odd!. We usually used a bag that had two holes for your arms to go in and another zipper at the end to put your film and other supplies in!. That way, we could stay out in the light, but the film was safe in the dark bag!. We only went in the darkroom to develop the pictures, and there were a lot of people in it at once!. I always loved being in there, except when you got the people that goofed off the entire time!.

You were probably just really anxious about how your pictures would turn out!. I'm sure you'll feel better next time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hope your friend is ok from the experience, you would be scary in the dark to be with im sure

A few days ago I thought I heard a noise in the darkroom, it really freaked me out, I ran out screaming they are here, they are here, to which my friend called out, you crazy wog!. It was scary and funny!.

Yeah its freaky and fun and brilliant, so glad your one of us now!. :)

Honey, I totally understand what you're talking about!.!.!. one day, late at night while I was in the darkroom, I exposed my photo paper in the enlarger, then turned around to put it in the chemicals!.!.!. my head was pretty much down the whole time, but I swear I saw someone when I turned around so I walked around them!.!.!. after I put my paper in the chemicals I turned around to see who it was, but they were gone!.!.!. kinda freaky!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you may not have trusted the person you were with!. Maybe it wasn't the darkroom itself!. If you were in the darkroom with your best friend, would you have felt the same!? just curious!. Oh, thanks for the broccoli image!. I'll never look at broccoli the same again!. that was awesome!

if it wasn't the person, then it was definitely the darkroom!. I guess they are kinda creepy places!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think ALT is right, you were apprehensive about how the images would turn out!. the more you use the darkroom the more comfortable you will become with it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe you are just a bit scared of the dark!. There is nothing to be scared of!. The more you do it the easier it will become!. Stay focused on your work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was going to say that it could just be from having someone else in the room, but if you know the person then maybe that isn't the reason!.

I develop my own film and pictures at home!. I just use a changing bag to develop film, but I made a darkroom in the garage to develop pictures with an enlarger!. I have to admit, the very first time I developed pictures it was very creepy!.!.!.there was just something about being in a completely dark room at night!. LOL!.!.!.I didn't even have a safe light! My enlarger has a red filter that I can use, but I don't like leaving the light on because I don't want to burn out the bulb!. So most of the time, I work in total darkness except for when I actually expose the paper on the enlarger!. It was too creepy!. Your imagination starts to go wild, and any noise from wind or the house settling will make you nervous!.

So what I did was put a radio out there, and that helped a lot!. I think you might just be getting nervous because it's such a completely different environment than what you're used to!. Even with a safe light (red or orange light), it's still a little weird and creepy!. But I love film photography, and there is something magic about seeing the pictures form on the paper right in front of your eyes!.

I also love taking the film out of the developing tank and seeing that there are real images on the film!. It's awesome!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
