Question: What is a good lens for SLR!?
I am looking at a couple different lenses!. I am looking at the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5!.6 IS USM, but I hear that it is worth getting the Canon L Series if I have the money because of the quality of the glass!. I want to get something that goes about 70mm-300mm!. I have heard that Canon's L Series is excellent quality!. My friend has a Sigma APO 80-400mm F4!.5-5!.6 EX DG OS!. How does it compare to the Canon L Series!? What other lenses besides the Canon L Series do you reccommend!?

I am also looking at Canon EF-S 17-85MM f4-5!.6 IS USM for a wide angle lens!. Is it good!? What else would you recommend!?

I am also looking at getting a Macro lens!. How about the EF-S 60mm
f/2!.8 Macro USM!?

Thanks a bunch,

I would avoid Sigma!.!.!. sure they have the Foveon technology in their cameras but the lens technology is still stone age compared to Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Minolta, Olympus, Mamiya, Hasselblad, Tokina,!.!.!. want me to keep rambling on!?

Sigma lenses can't stand on the same continent as Canon so go with Canon if you have the funds!.

!.!.!. and this is me saying it - a devoted Nikon user and Canon basher!.
