If your Minolta is a Maxxum autofocus then you can use the lenses from it on any Sony DSLR - A100/200/300/350/700!.

If your Minolta is a manual focus model like the SRT (100/101/102/200/201/202) series or the X series (XD-11/XE-7/XG-9/X-700) then you'll need an adapter to use them on the Sony DSLR cameras!. You can also get an adapter to use the older MC/MD manual focus lenses on the Canon DSLR cameras and there is an adapter to use them on the Olympus DSLR cameras!.

In 1985 Minolta introduced the world's first full-featured 35mm autofocus SLR, the Maxxum 7000!. At that time they abandoned their MC/MD bayonet lens mount for the A-mount to accomadate the autofocus!.

In 2003 Konica and Minolta merged to form Konica-Minolta (KM) and jointly market the KM Maxxum 5D & 7D DSLR cameras!. In 2006 KM quit the camera business and Sony bought their DSLR technology!. Since Sony kept the A-mount all those legacy Maxxum AF lenses can still be used!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To further answer your question, and Edwin please correct me if I am wrong, but no, there are no more Minolta digital cameras!. If I am not mistaken, the Minolta digital cameras, the Dimage series, were not SLRs, but instead EVF style cameras without removable lenses!.

So Sony, with the introduction of their line of DSLRs, have thoughtfully made them compatible with Minolta lenses!. A good move I think!. There are TONS of people with older Minolta film equipment, and Sony is right there to get their business if they want to move into digital!.

One more comment since this was well covered!.

If you were to convert to a Nikon Digital SLR you would find that Minolta has made adapters to fit Nikon Bodies so that their lenses could be used on the Nikon F-mount!.!.!. so have most of the other lens manufacturers and camera companies except Nikon!.

Nikon feels there is no reason to provide adapters for inferior lenses!.!.!. makes sense, doesn't it!?
