Question: Beginner model-how much am I suppossed to charge!?
I was just contacted about a photo shoot and asked about my hourly rates!.
I've never done this before so, how much am I supposed to charge for clothed, semi-clothed and nude work!?
Since I'm a beginner and everything I want my prices to be reasonable, but I don't want to be undervalued either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Be very careful about guys doing "nude" or semi-nude shoots!. Often these guys are doing it just to get their jollies or to get laid!. Check him out thoroughly and examine his previous work!. Make sure you know where and what he's intending to publish these photos in!. also, make sure you get copies for your portfolio!. If he's legit, you will have to sign a model release, which basically means he can use your images any damn where he pleases!.
If he's really legit, you will be able to tell immediately upon seeing the set where you're supposed to pose!. The lights and equipment he has tells all!. If it's cheap and shoddy and he shows a lack of experience, walk away!. Make absolutely sure you tell a good friend where you are, the phone number, who the guy is, and what you'll be doing!.
Charge approximately $50/hour or $300,oo for the entire day (8 hours)!.
In my opinion, it would be a mistake to do it for free, mainly because you're expected to pose topless or nude!. In this day and age, $50/hour is nothing to a professional!. Only $300/hour models are expected to know how to pose without coaching!.
If this is porno, don't do it!. You'll regret it!. How do you think your future children would react to that!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As a beginner you should not be charging anything more than travel and expenses for anything other than adult shots!.
Try and agree a tfxxx with the photographer i!.e!. you give your time and you get prints or cd in return!.
This helps you get a book (portfolio) together!.
Only do this though with experienced photographers or the pictures won't be worth it!.

The reason you should not be charging is that quite simply you will have little or no idea what to do and the photographer will have to direct you in all but the simplest poses!.

You should be taking this as a training session and learning from it!.
Once you have a bit more experience then you can start charging and a rough guide would be £15-20 per hour for portrait and clothed work,
20-25 for lingerie and around 30 for topless!.
Any bookings for half or full day should have a rate which is a bit less than your hourly rate!. i!.e!. around 100 for clothed, 150 for lingerie and topless!.
Figure nude is around 40 per hour or 150-200 per day

If this is an "adult" shoot then by all means charge and the standard rates for top shelf work (open leg, insertions) is around 250-300 per day!.

If you are a beginner, i would suggest doing the first photo shots free!.!.!.!.sometimes photographers will charge you if you want photos for your portfolio!.!.!.in this case the photographer wants you!.!.!.so neither of you charge one another!.!.!.that way it costs nothing but you are still getting shots for that all important portfolio but so is the photographer!.!.!.!.after saying this, it does depend on what the photographer wants to use the images for!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't do anything nude at first!. Don't want to be stigmatized!. And you don't want your kids seeing MOM later on either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
