Question: In Corel Painter X which brush do I use to draw over my pencil sketch to make my own lineart!?
I have scanned a pencil sketch into my computer and I am using Corel Painter X to draw over it to make lineart using the pen and pencil brushes in Painter!. But the problem is that for some reason these brushes dont make smooth lines (I dont know why)!. Infact they look pixelly and messy!. I have tried to disable pen pressure in the Painter X in the settings but the lines I draw still dont look smooth!. Can anyone give me any tips on which brush I should use for drawing over the pencil lines of the sketch I made!? I am trying to make an comic style picture and after I finish drawing over the pencil lines I scanned I am going to color the picture!. Can anyone tell me what brushes I need to use to do this!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all, you have to view your image at 100%!. Otherwise the lines will look pixeled, no matter which brush you used!. I recommend the Thick and Thin Variable Pen!. And turn on your pen pressure: you are mutilating Painter without it : )Www@QuestionHome@Com

In addition to making your brushes hardness 100%, try turning off the AntiAliasing for the current brush!.

Here is a tutorial for turning photos into pencil sketches, though it may not be what you want, it may help get there!.

You do not say what the initial size and resolution of your image is,it may be that you need to work at a higher resolution!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
